How to use Webex for immigration court? ›

Once your motion for a Video Teleconference hearing has been granted and processed, the immigration court will issue you an invitation via an automated Webex process. The invitation will include a unique meeting number (access code) and meeting password for the date and time of the meeting/hearing.

The length of an immigration court case can vary a lot. If you apply for asylum, your case can sometimes take several years to be completed. Other times, it can take less than one year. The length of time your case takes does not mean anything about whether or not you will win asylum.

Once the immigration judge has approved your application, it should get to you within approximately two months.

The Webex user interface is relatively simple. Upon joining the hearing, you will be designated as a Participant, and the ALJ will be designated as the Host. Control icons are located at the bottom of the screen and will allow you to, among other things, mute your microphone and turn off the video camera.

Dial the video address, tap the Join button, or automatically join from your video system. Join the meeting from the action button that appears in the Webex App for iPhone, iPad, or Android.

USCIS field offices do not allow walk-ins. You must have an appointment to visit an office.

What to wear to immigration court? ›

As with the asylum interview, the applicant should dress comfortably, but respectfully for the hearing. They should not feel compelled to wear a suit, but they should not wear jeans and a t-shirt either. Some immigration courts (notably New York's) can have long lines with extensive security to enter the building.

The odds of winning an immigration appeal process are not very high. In fact, it is estimated that 8 out of 10 cases fail in court. It should be noted that success rates vary by jurisdiction. In fact, civil appeals, especially in family cases, are more likely to be successful, with a rate of 50%.

When a non-citizen is deported from the United States, it will be difficult to get another visa or green card allowing re-entry. The federal government typically imposes a period of inadmissibility. During this time, the individual is banned from re-entering the country at a port of entry.

Status of Hearings

After you become a permanent resident, we mail you a welcome notice. Then we mail your new Permanent Resident Card(Green Card). If you move before you get your card, change your address online or submit an e-Request.

If this is the first time you're joining a meeting, Webex automatically downloads the app. Click the installer file to install the app and follow the instructions. If you're joining from a Linux computer or Chromebook, you aren't prompted to install anything. The meeting simply opens in your browser.

Open the Webex desktop app. To start a meeting on the fly, click Start a meeting. To join a scheduled meeting, tap the big green Join button next to the meeting you want to join. To reduce background noise, use the mute button to mute yourself if you don't want others to hear your background noise.
